Ross Karre's program, "Opera with Objects," is comprised of several works from the last 50 years involving objects as phenomenological inquiry, as whimsy, as vessel, and as a means of containing (or liberating) larger worlds of perception. With works from figureheads like Alvin Lucier and Vinko Globokar alongside brand new works by Fritz Hauser, Mark Applebaum, and Natacha Diels, this performance presents a continuous intermedial tour of a variety of interactions with found objects.

ROSS KARRE (b. 1983 in Battle Creek, MI) is a percussionist and temporal artist based in New York City. The Fresh Sound concert series has been inextricably aligned to the groundbreaking Music Department at UC San Diego from the very beginning in 1996. The 2015 concert schedule seeks to highlight the contributions of professors, grad-students and alumni from the prestigious percussion department, which has expanded into the global sphere of contemporary music. This is what the series will explore - the widening scope, the variety, and ongoing interconnectivity. (
