On Desert Time is comprised of a series of artworks created by Charity Algarme, in response to Southern California’s unique relationship with water. As a lifelong resident of this region, the artist’s work is informed by the complexities of bringing vast quantities of water to an equally vast and arid landscape. The work touches on the connection between water and spirituality, and seeks to fuse disparate themes such as romance, agriculture, and consumerism. Although the work is mostly sculptural in nature, there is a drawing or painting element that can be accessed via audience participation.

This exhibition is possible with support from the Russell Grant.

The show will run at UC San Diego’s Adam D. Kamil Gallery, which is located in the lower courtyard level of the Mandeville Center.
