SME 149, The Visual Arts Presentation Lab, hosted by the Department of Visual Arts

Essays examining Harun Farocki's late works including Parallel I-IV (2012–14) and Interface (1995). Includes the 1986 interview, Catch Phrases – Catch Images, A Conversation with Vilém Flusser, and new articles by Thomas Elsaesser, Priscila Arantes, Erika Balsom, Patricia Moran, Alfredo Suppia and Harun Farocki. Editor Jane de Almeida and author Alfredo Suppia will give talks, introduced by Brett Stalbaum. Forty (40) copies of the book will be given away on a first come, first serve basis, with signing after the talks.

Jane de Almeida is a professor of contemporary art and film at Mackenzie University and the director of LabCine, a laboratory that develops and researches expanded cinemas, contemporary spaces for cinematic exhibition, archiving and selection of images, scientific and educational narratives, advanced database visualizations, and remote advanced visualizations.

Alfredo Suppia is a professor of Film Studies at UNICAMP, where he heads the graduate studies program. He is the author of Atmosfera Rarefeita, the preeminent book on the topic of Brazilian science fiction cinema.
