February 2017-February 2018

Artist and Southwestern College Professor Perry Vasquez led his drawing students in developing a large-scale, collaborative charcoal mural. Students researched and studied iconic imagery reflective of both space exploration and classic science fiction films in order to conceive their artwork. The resulting mosaic of drawings was created by a diverse community of students artists, each of whom brings their unique interpretation of the source image to the finished artwork.

The mural by Perry Vasquez will be on display at San Diego's Lindberg Field / Terminal 2 East, Lower Level (pre-security)

About Temporary Exhibitions

Each year, the Arts Program identifies an exhibition theme relevant to San Diego and the airport, and invites interested exhibitors to submit proposals related to that topic. Arts Program staff, in collaboration with a guest curator, identify 10-15 exhibitors based on their creativity, unique use of media and relevance to the proposed theme. Collectively, each exhibition presents meaningful and imaginative perspectives on a single theme for the traveling public.
