Saturday, December 10th // 10am - 1pm

Please join Quint Projects for the BOOK / SIGN with Kim MacConnel – a book signing and release party in honor of MacConnel’s new publication. Ideal Boy is a limited-edition book collaboration by poet Ed Friedman and visual artist Kim MacConnel. Its 14 poems and 18 illustrations evoke a “speculative pan-cultural boyhood & manhood replete with customs, rites, prohibitions, encouragements, ambitions, fantasies, and assessments.” Visual artist Ann Agee has designed a three-color dust jacket for the book, which has been screen-printed in four versions. The titling on each version is in a different language: Tamil, Urdu, Khmer, Tajik. Ideal Boy has been produced in an edition of 200. Each copy has been numbered and signed by the author, illustrator, and cover artist.

The event will take place at Quint Projects during the current exhibition titled BOOK / HOUSE, which runs through December 31st. On display is Aaron Stephan’s Building Houses / Hiding Under Rocks, an interactive sculpture made of library books along with a selection of artist books. Also exhibited are Quint Gallery publications including Kelsey Brookes: Psychedelic Space, Ryan McGinness: Women – New (Re)Presentations and Robert Irwin: Projects and Exhibitions 2012-2013. There are also an eclectic mix of artist books displayed including Jean Lowe, Ed Ruscha and Jeff Koons.
