There are works in the exhibition that have a certain poetry and subtlety...Maybe what makes Ms. Weems's work stand apart, like Ms. Simpson's, is that it is so different from much of the rest of the show, which focuses on negative stereotypes. It's also the quietly ordinary, human story she tells, one involving both men and women...
