James Enos’ is more than a little hard on himself. He’s one of the standout artists in the major museum exhibition of local artists “Here Not There: San Diego Art Now,” at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. And as visually compelling as his contribution to that show is, if you simply enjoy it as a visual object, he’s apt to classify it as a failure. In his scenario, he wants to the viewer to become curious enough to dig deeper, to think about the forces of society that produced our built environment.
