This course offers a comparative and thematic approach to the artistic achievements and cultural productions of societies with widely divergent structure and political organization from the ancient kingdoms and empires of Central America and Asia to the tribes of Africa and the chiefdoms of Native American and Oceanic peoples. Topics vary with the interests and expertise of the instructor.
