Transfer applicants interested in the Visual Arts must complete the UC Application in order to be considered for admission. At this time, transfer students do not need to submit an additional art portfolio to be considered for the Visual Arts department.
When preparing to apply to UC San Diego and the Visual Arts department, it is important that you are knowledgeable about the college system, our majors, minors, and student opportunities. The more you prepare prior to your application, the better the fit will be if you join us in the fall as a Triton! To learn more about the UC Application and requirements, click here.
To prepare to transfer, you are encouraged to:
· Complete the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) at your community college which may lessen the number of requirements that will need to be completed at UC San Diego
· Know the Visual Arts curriculum and take as many lower division major requirements at your community college as possible (Visual Arts advisors can help you understand the curriculum and can assist you in selecting appropriate courses)
· Visit Assist.org in order to determine how your previous coursework will transfer to UC San Diego
· Gather course materials (such as: syllabi, exams, essays, projects) for all courses not listed on assist.org as this information is necessary during the petition process
