Alhena Katsof is a curator and writer focused on performance studies and exhibition histories. Katsof's collaborative projects include Telepathic Improvisation, Pauline Boudry / Renate Lorenz's first traveling solo exhibition and film commission in the United States and Towards the Unknown, a traveling exhibition of drawings, scores, and graphic notations by Yusef Lateef. From 2011-2018, Katsof was Director of Strategy and Protocol for Public Movement. The performances she created with Dana Yahalomi, the Director of Public Movement, have been staged at institutions including the Santacarangelo Festival, Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art, and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Katsof and Yahalomi co-authored the book Solution 263: Double Agent (Sternberg Press, 2015). Additionally, Katsof has written about artists including Polly Apfelbaum, Gordon Hall, and Andrea Geyer whose recent monograph she co-edited with Dancing Foxes Press. Katsof's essays have been published in volumes including The Artist As Curator: An Anthology (Mousse Publishing, 2017), How Institutions Think: Between Contemporary Art and Curatorial Discourse (MIT Press, 2017), and As Radical, As Mother, As Salad, As Shelter: What Should Art Institutions Do Now? (Paper Monument, 2018). Katsof's ongoing series of lectures about Hannah Höch's garden have been presented at the Center for Experimental Lectures, Rongwrong, and Bridget Donahue Gallery. Katsof is a doctoral student at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and part-time Faculty at Eugene Lang — The New School.
