Amidst volcano warp zones and hybrid life forms, in an online world designed for the event, Pohflepp in Practice will bring together collaborators and friends to celebrate and reflect on the practice and process of Sascha Pohflepp, who passed away unexpectedly in 2019. A PhD student in the Department of Visual Arts, he called Southern California and Berlin home. Sascha was in the midst of developing a theory and method he called “post-rational design.” His creative legacy is now dispersed across disciplines, platforms, and countries, and carried forward by a vast network of collaborators. Pohflepp in Practice revisits Sascha’s work and practice through talks reflecting on his wonderfully strange ways of working, thinking, and being.
Talks will be streamed through an interactive archiving platform (aka the Saschaverse) that allows visitors to chat during the presentations and connect for discussion afterwards, and will serve as the foundation for an ongoing archive of Sascha’s work. This event will also mark the soft launch of The PostRational Foundation, a fund organized to preserve and advance Sascha’s legacy. The fund will support the legal management of Sascha’s legacy, the archiving and access of his works, and projects (like this one) that honor his practice and support creative ventures that correspond with his ongoing interests.
