Interrogating the Archive: Decolonization is Not a Metaphor

20 April 2018, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Visual Arts Facility 366, UC San Diego

The research group Interrogating the Archive: Shared Research Methodologies at the Intersection of Aesthetics and Authenticity is holding its first open workshop. Please join us for this reading discussion!

Interrogating the Archive is a 2018 UCSD Interdisciplinary Collaboratory organized by faculty and graduate students from the Departments of Visual Arts, Communication, and Ethnic Studies at UC San Diego. Our project aims to engage the campus community and the wider public through a series of open seminars and workshops, a published reader, a colloquium, and wiki site.

Our first reading workshop Decolonization is Not a Metaphor will explore the problem of exclusion and/or negative inclusion in archival practices and objects. We will focus on how power structures exist in the archive, and explore decolonial and community-focused record keeping methodologies. Please see the attached flyer for further details.

For readings and (suggested) registration, please contact: interrogating.the.archive@gmail.com
