Carolina Montejo is a Colombian – American artist and filmmaker based in Southern California. She is currently a candidate for an MFA in Visual Arts from UC San Diego. Using film & video, performance, and installation, her experimental works are concerned with ecological thought as well as human and more-than-human embodiment and subjectivity.
Additionally, Montejo’s work outlines a framework of justice, utopia, and activism which operates under the spirit of revolution, beauty, and simultaneity. Carolina approaches these interests through poetic narratives that address journeys to inner and outer space.
Her academic research focuses on ecofeminism, intersectional climate justice, and experimental film practices that emerge in the 21st century climate emergency. Montejo’s films and documents combine socio-politic fact with the worlds of science, imagination, and mystical existence.
