Biography:

MFA 2019

Paolo Zuñiga is a filmmaker who combines elements of fiction and documentary to construct narratives that reflect themes of memory, home, and identity. His use of ethnographic fieldwork and a focus on visual aesthetics often leads to narratives that are less concerned with truth and more so with what is ultimately constructed. Through this process, narrative becomes an assemblage of recorded histories, observations, and conversations that blend together in a pseudo improvised performance that is documented and arranged in the edit. He completed his undergraduate studies in anthropology from San Diego State University and is currently an MFA candidate in the department of visual arts at UC San Diego. His current research explores topics of family history and informal archives.
