Quieting Down

Under the ambience of mika casteñada’s sculpture installation, time is taken, it is not spent; time is passing, we don’t question her girlhood. Follow two dolls (Alejandrina Medina and Jun!yi Min) as they explore the work of quieting down while taking time to get ready. Get ready to listen, to participate, and to take time with the performers as they recount memories, enmesh desires, and practice care and love for each other’s bodies.

This work is a part of Medina’s MA Thesis in Integrative Studies at UCSD’s Music Department, as well as casteñada’s MFA Thesis at UCSD’s Visual Arts Department. This performance is funded by a Department of Music DEI Research Grant.
