Yasmine Kasem was born in Indiana and completed her BFA at Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN May of 2015. Her work centers on the perception of women in the Middle East and the west, the issues they share and their relationships to one another. Her work confronts misconceptions about Muslim and Middle Eastern Women and initiates a conversation through stimulating and relatable work.
June of 2015, Yasmine was selected as a recipient of the ISC Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award. Her work was shown at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ October of 2015 and most recently at the Mana Contemporary in "Wake the Town and Tell the People" in Jersey City, NJ in March of 2016. Amongst many exhibitions around Indianapolis, she was selected to participate in a master class with Michelle Grabner at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in October 2015. She Co-founded the Working Girls Artist Collective in Indianapolis Indiana, whose mission was to produce exhibitions that brought together female artists throughout the city of Indianapolis and surrounding areas.
