Biography:

Lauren Landry is a student in the PhD Program in Art History, Theory and Criticism at the University of California, San Diego. She completed her BA at Boston College, majoring in Art History and minoring in Studio Art. She then completed her MA  in Art History at the University of Chicago. She specializes in 19th Century French and Japanese art and interior design, focusing on the commodity trade between the two countries. She is interested in themes that expand and challenge notions of national identity and fine arts. She is also interested in painting and sculpture practices during the 19th Century in France and is very interested in the lives of Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. She also is looking towards China and Korea, inspecting how the trade between these countries also shaped Japanese art in the 19th century.
