Biography:
Alicia Marván (MEXICO/USA) is an artist, designer and educator with 25 years of experience in the arts, design and architecture sectors. As an artist, she has participated in over 200 art exhibitions and projects, many of which have received support from cultural organizations and academic institutions in Mexico, The United States, Canada, Chile, Uruguay, Brasil, Portugal, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, The Netherlands and South Africa. As an educator, she has lectured and taught both in Mexico and the United States, in the subjects of studio art, art history, social science, art and sustainability, cultural development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She is the founder and director of the Guapamacátaro Center for Art and Ecology in Michoacán, Mexico. Current PhD research at UCSD focuses on the intersection between public art and natural science, particularly biomimicry and sustainable development.
