Biography:
Stephania Torres-Londono (she/her) is an art historian and geophysicist pursuing a PhD in Art History, Theory, and Criticism at the University of California, San Diego. Her main interests include the visual history at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the visual culture of oceanic climate change, data visualization, mapping, and interdisciplinary collaborations between science and art. Stephania received a B.S. in Geosciences (Geophysics) and a B.A. in Art History from the University of California, San Diego.
Stephania has been a co-curator for the PST ART: Art and Science Collide partnership between UC San Diego Visual Arts and Birch Aquarium for the Embodied Pacific: Three Lives and Embodied Pacific: Mural-Canoes exhibitions. On view in 2024-2025, the PST ART exhibition Embodied Pacific features projects by thirty artists collaborating with researchers in laboratories, field sites, and archives in Southern California and the Pacific Islands. Her curatorial work is on view at Gallery QI + The Gallery at Geisel Library through December/January 2024, and at the Kendall-Frost Marsh Reserve.
